Meet the Chef at the Mulberry Tree in Malvern

Meet Steve Wilson, the new chef leading the kitchen at the Mulberry Tree. With over 12 years of experience and a deep love for seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, Steve brings a confident simplicity to everything he cooks.

His journey started young, aged just 14, washing pots at the Halfway House in Powick in Worcestershire. By 16, he was already on the line as a Chef de Partie, working his way up to sous chef in just a couple of years. Since then, he’s cooked in pubs, hotels and restaurants across the UK and Cyprus, learning his craft from over 200 head chefs and honing his skills in seafood, grill cooking and British cuisine.

Steve’s cooking style is all about doing the basics well. Just honest food with big flavour, made from the best local produce he can get his hands on.

“I’ve worked in all kinds of kitchens, but there’s something really exciting about stepping into a place like the Mulberry Tree at the Mount Pleasant Hotel. It’s a part of Malvern’s history, and I feel proud to be part of that story.”
